Life's a Beach ~ and then then you get sand in your pants

A couple of weeks ago, we headed out for a vacation.
We wanted to do something totally fun together before
Sara heads off to college {in 6 days, sniff}.
After some discussion...she thought it would be AWESOME
if we could spend a week in Cancun.

So that's what we did!

She and Jon swam with the dolphins.  Me? Maybe next time.
But then again...maybe not.

We went to Tulum.
It's a Mayan city.
It was HOT.
That is all.

The beach at Tulum is very pretty...but no time for swimming here.

Our favorite thing was laying around by the beach...
sipping pina coladas...
doing NOTHING!
This picture of my peeps makes me laugh.

Really.
Isn't that what vacation is all about?

See how relaxed my toes look?

Here's my beautiful girl.
"Hey, mom! Take a jumping picture!"

The water was so unbelievable!
Clear and turquoise.
Ugh. Gorgeous.

Promise not to be frightened by this next picture.
Unfortunately for me...I burn easily...
even with loads of sunscreen.  It made the skin on my legs puffy.
VERY attractive. :)

But I told someone...
if all my freckles would just get together,
I could have one fabulous tan!

The Caribbean is such a picture perfect backdrop,
we had to get a some shots in.

Aside from the sunburn and fuzzy hair...
{my daughter and I both have natural curls}
we had a very fun and relaxing vacation.

How about you?
Do you like your vacations to be packed full of activity?
Or do you prefer a hammock and a good book?

  1. Kelly- It looks like you had a wonderful vacation. Sunburns are NOT fun, though. Your daughter is beautiful...the whole family is beautiful. What a blessing to be able to do this before she heads off for school. We take a lot of driving vacations...over the road-stopping here and there with no rhyme or reason- xo Diana

  2. I swear, I could stare at that ocean blue forever! There is nothing like that Caribbean blue. It's just not that vibrant on the pacific side!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and your sweet comment. Yes, you can make those chairs. Ridiculously easy. Since you are in Greeley, if you really decide to make them, I still have the paper patterns from mine that you are welcome to.
